Kikooba is a Branch of Uganda Pioneers Association. It is one of the oldest branches and was formed in 1989 when the organization started.
Kikooba UPA branch intends to continue with the construction of a health Centre that began two years ago. The health centre shall provide basic health services to the surrounding community. The local community has to walk more than 20 km to the nearest health unit. The branch also intends to continue with the construction of a classroom block that houses primary one to primary four. An integrated part of the project is information work on health and hygiene in general and sexual reproductive health in particular. Methods such as peer education and information theatre will be used.
The majority of the branch members are women and the branch runs a primary school and a craft production project.
Construction of a classroom
A cultural night will be organised and participants will displace items, songs and dances from there home countries and traditions
The project location is in a predominantly Baganda population speaking Luganda with a good number fluent in English.
The work camp shall draw participants from the local community, volunteers from Uganda Pioneers Association and volunteers from the international community. The debates and discussions shall too be open for participation of the local population. It is hoped that the local community shall heavily benefit from the discussions on HIV/AIDS and the construction of the health centre.
