The Mid- and Long-term Volunteer Programme (MLTV programme) is an international volunteer exchange programme under Uganda Pioneers' Association (UPA). UPA has hosted international volunteers in workcamps since the organisation was started in 1989 and started with the MLTV programme in 2002. And MLTV is a volunteer willing to work for a longer period of time, usually three months.
UPA partners with organisations, institutions, UPA branches and projects that aim to develop local communities alleviate poverty and promote volunteerism. In these organisations, the MLTVs, more than STVs, get deeply immersed in Ugandan culture since they work with Ugandans and often stay in host families.
Following is an outline of organisations, institutions and projects that host volunteers from UPA. The aim of the outline is to assist future volunteers to choose a particular project or placement that he/she wishes to work with and to direct UPA when identifying host places that matches the qualifications and wishes of the volunteer.
If you wish to become a volunteer, please contact the UPA secretariat.
More information about the projects of 2008, registration and further information about the services of UPA can be found in the folder MLTV projects UPA 2008. Watch the folder here (to download, right-click and select 'save target as...').
After deciding to choose to work with UPA it is a good idea to read the guide for volunteers which you can watch here (again, to download, right-click and select 'save target as...')
